How to Start a Podcast
The question I get asked the most is, “How do you start a podcast?”, so for my people who have been asking or just if you are curious how you can get your podcast started. Here is how Dairies of a Mf City Girl was made. :)
Before actually making your podcast, you have to think about what you want your name, your vision, and the purpose is. Your name defines you, you need something that will make people click on your show, your vision, is where are you going with your podcast, how long do you see yourself doing this. The purpose, what is your goal, what is the reason you started this, what message do you have to tell the world. (Remember a podcast is to the world, anyone can listen to it.)
To be able to have a podcast of course you need something to record. We use a studio.
To edit your voice you need a software like Adobe Premiere. (This is what we use).
A microphone like a Blue SnowBall, or just go on amazon and look up podcast mic.
A quiet room. You want to be professional, you want people to hear your message not a bunch of background noise.
To Post we use Podbean. You can use other websites like Buzzsprout, Libsyn, i.e.This is how people listen to your website. On the podcast website, for FREE you can post on other platforms like Apple Podcast, Spotify, iHeartRadio, i.e.
The podcast website will give you a RSS feed which is what’s needed to go on other platforms.
You need to think about what you want to talk about and RESEARCH. It’s important to know what you are going to talk about because when you start recording it’s a whole other feeling. People underestimate how hard it is to have a podcast. When you start , you will see. Plan what you are going to talk about, do your research so you know what you are talking about, and you educate your audience with what you learn.
Social Media is Key
If you want people to actually watch your show you have to promote it on social media. Come up with a logo, take some professional photos. Promote your show! An instagram is a must, if you have creative ideas I say venture out to other platforms like Tik tok. Also a website.
Voila! You got yourself a podcast!
If you want more details about any of these steps, let us know! We got you!
